Signs of Termite Infestation

Hollow-sounding wood

Hollow-sounding wood:

Termites prefer to be in dark, humid environments.  They do not typically feed on the surface of wood, but rather the inside where they cannot be seen. In fact, the wood’s surface might appear smooth, even if termites are inflicting damage. If wood sounds hollow when tapped, it may be because termites are eating the wood from the inside out.

Groups of winged insects

Discarded wings:

Reproductive termites called swarmers take flight to create new colonies. Subterranean termites typically swarm in the spring, whereas drywood termites swarm in the late summer, early fall. If you see a swarm of insects or groups of discarded wings, contact Termite Right for a free inspection right away.

Mud tubes on exterior walls

Mud tubes:

Watch for broken water pipes and shaded areas where moisture can build up in your home or business. These conditions can draw subterranean termites to your property. Subterranean termites use these mud tubes to travel and forge for food.

Drywood termites produce wood-colored droppings called frass as they eat their way through infested wood. These droppings are commonly referred to in the industry as “pellets” due to their size and shape, and can resemble the look of sawdust as well.

Meet Daniel Chavez, Owner and Operator

Mr. Chavez has been in the termite industry for over ten years. During this time he found that there were things that could have been done better, so he decided to go out on his own.

His mission is to bring back the days of great service and honesty with the customer. Termite Right has successfully met these goals and continues to build relationships, one customer at a time.

Why choose Termite Right?

Drywood termites and subterranean termites are native to Southern California. These insects come and go in swarms. When they find the right place, they will establish a colony and multiply into the thousands. Just by sensing the feromones in the colony, the queen knows how many worker termites, or soldier termites are gone and immediately lays the necessary eggs to fill that void. A queen termite can live up to 50 years, and once a colony has been established it can lay up to 2,000 eggs per day.

If your home or business is not protected against these pests, you could be looking at thousands of dollars in damage within a short time. The philosophy of Termite Right is that it is extremely important to get things done right the first time.
